Salaat Timings

In the Name of Allah, The Beneficent, The Merciful.

Perpetual Time Table for Prayers & Fasting for Toronto and Southern Ontario.

The pronounciation of the SURAS and other recitations during the prayers must be the correct pronounciation in accordance with the Arabic language and its rules and must be letter perfect; so if even a letter is substituted for another letter then that word is void (BATEL) and if not repeated correctly, the prayer also becomes void. The recitation of the SURAS must also be correct and if one were to intentionally recite them with emphasis where there is no emphasis or add a letter or movement, one has made a mistake and one's prayer is invalidated. It is an obligatory precaution to avoid joining two verses together without pronouncing the vowel carried by the last letter of the first verse (WASL BI-S-SUKUN) or pronouncing the last vowel and then pausing (WAQF BI-L-HARAKA). If there is doubt about correct pronunciation as long as one has not passed the place, but once the place has been passed the doubt should be ignored. If the pronunciation has been assumed to have been correct at the time of reciting but later is it found to have been incorrect, the prayer should be repeated.

(All the MARAAJE-E-TAQLEED are in agreement with the above)

Make the necessary adjustments in the timings for the following:

London +7 Minutes
Hamilton +2 Minutes
Windsor +14 Minutes
Kingston -12 Minutes
Ottawa -15 Minutes
Peterborough -5 Minutes
Kitchener, Waterloo +4 Minutes
Guelph -2 Minutes

Important Note: Since there is a difference of opinion among the experts on the fajr times, it is strongly recommended that: (1) You add 12 to 15 minutes to the fajr time because saying the salaat before its proper time will make the salaat batil. (2) You may start fasting by the imsac time given in the time-table because abstaining from muftirat even before the fajr time does not harm your fasting.
- Sayyid Muhammad Rizvi - October 1996

The Islamic Shia Ithna-Asheri Jamaat of Toronto conveys its gratitude to Hujjatul Islam Wal Muslimin Aga Haj Shaikh Abbas Mesbahzadeh for compiling this prayer time-table and Sayyid Muhammad Rizvi for updating it.
