The Islamic Ithna-Asheri Jamaat (ISIJ) of Toronto is holding a two-night program at the Ja'ffari Islamic Centre, on the May long weekend to commemorate one of the possible days of the Wafat of the Lady of Light Sayyida Fatimah Zahra (SA).

It is our honour to have *Shaykh Usama Al-Atar *from Vancouver recite on Saturday May 17th, 2008 and Monday, May 19, 2008.  Program on both days start at 7:15pm with the recitation of Quran and will end with Salaatul Maghribain. Full Parking will be available at the Jewish Temple.

A special youth Q&A session has been arranged after Salaat on Saturday, May 17, 2008.

Student Waiver Program- New Policy

At the last AGM held at JIC on March 29^th, 2008 the BAP (Burial) amount of $20 for the full time students between the ages of 18-29yrs was approved.  This was retroactive to 1st Muharram 1429. For those who have already paid their dues, you may choose one of the following options. Convert your membership dues paid to a donation; convert your membership to a future payment towards the BAP; Request a refund of the membership fees. The full time students would now be able to become members for a payment of $20 subject to them agreeing to perform 48 hours per year of the community service for Ja’ffari Social Services and / or Ja’ffari Volunteer Corps.

Tabligh Committee of ISIJ - Audio Book Release

The Tabligh Committee of the Shia Ithna-Asheri Jamaat of Toronto has released an MP3 Audio Book titled Knowing Allah (SWT). The Audio Book is based on the book Knowing Allah by Dr. Muhammad Javad Bahonar and covers contemporary issues on the existence of Allah, based on the Holy Quran and Ahadith. This Audio Book is geared towards anyone who is in search of acquiring a deeper understanding of Allah. AHLULBAYT SATELLITE CHANNEL LAUNCHES "BILLION SALAWAT CAMPAIGN" WITH HUGE SUCCESS. PLEDGES REACH 11 MILLION OVERNIGHT!

The Ahlulbayt Satellite Channel, a leading Islamic television network, today launched a global campaign encouraging viewers to recite the remembrance of Salawat a billion times. The initiative which marks the birth of the Imam Al Mahdi was launched on a global scale to pray for the reappearance of the Awaited Saviour.

The campaign's launch was a huge success and was received by believers in an extraordinary fashion. Within a mere hour, over one million Salawat were pledged by viewers and within 6 hours the number had risen to a whopping 5.5 million in pledged prayers! By the next morning pledges had reached a mind boggling 11.4 million as news of the campaign spread like wildfire.

The expiry date for the campaign is set by the end of the Holy Month of Ramadhan, but given the rapid pace at which the pledges are being made the historic milestone is expected to be reached ahead of schedule.

Constant campaign updates and highest pledges will be displayed on the Ahlulbayt Satellite Channel's screen for the next 45 days. With a number of individuals and families already making pledges of 1 million each, the campaign is expected to be the biggest in history.
